The majority of Americans say that a company’s “primary purpose” should include “making the world better”. Corporate culture is evolving to reflect this value as evidenced by a new statement on the purpose of a corporation unveiled by the Business Roundtable in August of 2019. This statement acknowledges the broader interconnectedness of influences on corporate success and the role businesses play in addressing some of society’s most pressing needs.
Workplace stress costs U.S businesses billions of dollars and mindfulness is emerging as a leading social determinant of health, with many benefits related to stress management. Top organizations like Google and Intel as well as a number of NBA and NFL teams have integrated mindfulness into their workforce, resulting in increased vitality, improved workplace dynamics, and higher profits and productivity. Employees who include a regular mindfulness practice in their day demonstrate greater emotional intelligence, focus, and creativity.
The Midwest Alliance for Mindfulness endeavors to help organizations cultivate workforce wellbeing and pursue good corporate citizenship in today’s changing world. We can assist organizations through the benefits of membership, corporate training and our speaker’s bureau. We are happy to be a resource for Healthy KC, a regional health and wellness program sponsored by the Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce with a goal of improving mental health in the workplace and creating a culture of health and wellness in Greater Kansas City.
MAM maintains a core group of speakers who are available to provide mindfulness education, training and programming for community, institutional, or corporate gatherings and events. In addition to our expertise in mindfulness, our trained teachers have backgrounds in business, mental health, trauma care, diversity training, first responders, and more. We work on a sliding scale dependent upon organization size within the Kansas City metro (travel expenses are added for locations outside the metro). In the spirit of compassion and generosity, we maintain a number of partnerships with non-profit, philanthropic organizations for which we provide reduced cost or pro-bono services. Contact us regarding your needs and we will connect you with the appropriate resource.
