Micky (Angela) is a Training Officer at the Overland Park Kansas Fire Department, an ordained minister, Air Force veteran, and a mindfulness trainer whose interests include wellness and resiliency for people who experience stress and secondary trauma, and spiritual practices for non-religious people. Their background is comprised of service as a paramedic, law enforcement officer, disaster rescue technician, and military flight medic. They are a Certified Trauma Services Specialist through the Association of Traumatic Stress Specialists. Kansas is named after the Kansas River, which in turn was named after the Kansa (Kką:ze) Native Americans who lived along its banks. The name is often said to mean people of the south wind. The Free State is home to almost 3 million people now. Nearly 90% of Kansas’s land is devoted to agriculture producing cattle, sheep, wheat, sorghum, soybeans, cotton, hogs, corn, and salt.
