I began my journey into mindfulness practice and study after I retired from the Overland Park Police Department several years ago. I learned about Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) during a silent meditation retreat at Spirit Rock in California and was inspired to explore ways to share its powerful methods with first responders while deepening my own personal practice.
Erik was accepted into the 2021 Upaya Chaplaincy Training Program. He completed his MBSR Teacher Advancement Intensive in October of 2019 and is a Level One MBSR Teacher through Brown University's Mindfulness Center.
