Meet the Teacher: Julia Grimm
Meet Julia Grimm, LMLP-T, RYT-200, core community teacher for the Midwest Alliance for Mindfulness, licensed therapist, and registered yoga teacher. She leads our community practice meetings and mindful attitude adjustment classes, with the intention of helping her participants to increase insight and incorporate creativity into their practices.
“To me, practicing mindfulness is like coming home. Through my practice I deeply connect to my experiences and am uncovering layers of myself in the process. My personal mindfulness practice has aided my growth as a therapist and teacher tremendously over the past years. I carry my practice with me wherever I go. Having lived in various places around the world, mindfulness has kept me steady throughout inevitable change.”
Julia grew up in Germany and received her higher education in the Netherlands. However, her mindfulness journey started here in the US, where she took her first yoga class in Tupelo, Mississippi as an exchange student. Since then Julia has practiced yoga and mindfulness around the world, from Germany, the Netherlands, and the Czech Republic, to India and Nicaragua, finally landing in Kansas City where she completed her 200-hour yoga teacher training with Karma Tribe Yoga. She attended MAM’s 200-Hour Mindfulness Teacher Training Certification Program in 2020.
With her history of working with survivors of domestic violence, Julia endeavors to create a trauma-informed space wherever she teaches. We are fortunate to have a teacher like Julia on board bringing a broader world view to our offerings. To sign up for one of her classes check out our calendar.
