revolution from the inside out

200-Hour Mindfulness Teacher Training Certification

Enrollment for 2024 starts January 19th: Many of us who have benefited so powerfully from the cultivation of mindfulness in our lives feel a deep calling to share these healing practices with others. MAM values training and education. Evidence is mounting that trained mindfulness teachers produce better outcomes for the people we serve.

The Midwest Alliance for Mindfulness 200-Hour Mindfulness Teacher Training (MTT) Certification Program is designed to prepare aspiring mindfulness teachers to deliver basic group mindfulness training with diverse populations in a safe and inclusive manner. The curriculum offers support and guidance to individuals who wish to bring mindfulness into their workspaces, communities, or institutions. We consider this to be the minimum level of training that teachers should complete in order to teach general group mindfulness safely and inclusively

This program is designed to meet current standards for basic group mindfulness teaching, including a combination of didactics, self-study/reflection, and practice. MTT students meet one full weekend per month over a period of ten months. A certificate is provided to those who successfully complete all MTT requirements.

Our program follows International Mindfulness Teachers Association (IMTA) “professional level” standards and includes aspects of the MBI:TAC. This training program is not sufficient for teaching Mindfulness Based Interventions/Programs such as Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction, Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy, Mindful Self-Compassion, etc.

This program is offered simultaneously online via Zoom (US Central time) and on location (seats limited) for local students who’d like to meet in person. Read about our online etiquette here https://mindfulness-alliance.org/offerings/online-offerings/.

Testimonials

I must say that the MTT program has surpassed all of my expectations. I assumed, going in, that some of the topics and training would be challenging, but the team of teachers have presented everything coherently and with a passion. All of the instructors have taken many advanced Mindfulness studies, and I can truly sense they have a strong desire to pass their vast knowledge on to us…in hopes that we would also become teachers, and pass on the gift of Mindfulness to others. The instructors are very welcoming with any questions, and I always feel seen and heard. In addition, the program is presented with a wonderful sense of familiarity, and I know I have made many lifelong friends with the instructors and other students during this life-changing and very rewarding experience.

Participation in the Mindfulness Teacher Training program at Midwest Alliance for Mindfulness has been a transformative experience for me. Despite my previous experience, I’ve learned and grown more skillful with each module, for the material is thoughtfully and thoroughly presented by teachers with expertise in appropriate fields. The reading material, classes, co-teaching, and retreat experiences are meaningful and useful in my pursuit to share these skills with others as well as deepen my own practice. I have taken courses from nationally-known teachers, and I have found the teachers in this program to be no less inspiring, knowledgeable, and supportive. I am grateful for the opportunity to connect in a community with shared reality, to gain more understanding and clarity about teaching mindfulness, and to belong to a movement cultivating more compassion and harmony in the lives of all beings.
